Moscow Terror Attack: Death Toll Hits 133, Suspects Apprehended
Moscow: The death toll from the terror attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall has climbed to 133, with 152 others injured, according to the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
Moscow region governor Andrey Vorobyov announced that the families of the deceased would receive $32,500 in compensation. Russian Security Service (FSB) director Alexander Bortnikov informed President Vladimir Putin of 11 detentions related to the attack.
Despite prior US warnings, President Putin dismissed them as “provocative.” The attackers, all detained, had connections on the Ukrainian side, as per state-owned news agency TASS. The assailants employed automatic weapons and flammable liquid to cause chaos during a concert.
Worldwide, leaders including UK’s David Cameron, India’s Narendra Modi, and Sri Lanka condemned the attack. The US denounced it as a “terrible incident,” while Pakistan extended sympathies to the victims’ families. Russia’s Foreign Ministry labeled it a “terrorist attack” and urged global condemnation.
